How to use the Pictionary Words
- 01
Pick a level
Open Options and set Difficulty to Easy, Medium or Hard. Easy words are single things a child can draw, like Cat or Pizza. Hard words are actions, ideas and sayings, like Brain freeze.
- 02
Narrow the words
Pick one or more Categories, such as Animals or Food, for a themed round. Leave All on to draw from all 310 words.
- 03
Generate a word
Choose 1, 3, 5 or 10 under How many and press Generate, or press the Space key. No word repeats until you have seen every word in your filters.
- 04
Start the timer
Set the Timer to 30, 60 or 90 seconds and press Start. A sound plays when time is up. Turn Sound off if you need quiet.
A pictionary word generator for any group
Pictionary is the common name for the drawing and guessing game: one player draws a word without speaking, and the others race to guess it. This page gives you the words, so nobody has to think them up or peek at a list.
The words come from a fixed list of 310, sorted by difficulty and by category. Nothing is made up on the spot, and nothing you draw or guess leaves your device.
Easy pictionary words for kids
Set Difficulty to Easy for 117 words that are one clear thing, like Cat, Apple, Rainbow, Robot or Snowman. Most kids can draw them in a few lines, and most guessers know them by sight.
For young players, pick Animals, Food and Vehicles, use the 90 second timer, and let them use arrows or point at parts of the picture. There is no separate kids filter, so stay on Easy for the youngest players.
Medium pictionary words
Medium has 114 words with a little more to them: Hot air balloon, Treasure chest, Haunted house, Astronaut, Roller coaster or Build a sandcastle. Many take two or three objects in one drawing, which makes them good for teens and mixed ages.
Hard pictionary words for adults
Hard has 79 words that have no single shape to draw: actions, ideas and sayings like Jet lag, Gravity, Brainstorm, Stage fright, Break the ice and Raining cats and dogs. You have to show them with a little scene, or draw the parts of a phrase one at a time.
Hard words work best with adults and older teens who know the sayings. Give the drawer the full 90 seconds, at least for the first few rounds.
How to play Pictionary with this generator
Groups play many versions, but most use rules like these:
- Split into two or more teams. Each team picks a drawer for the round.
- The drawer looks at the word on the screen while the guessers look away.
- The drawer presses Start and draws on paper or a whiteboard. No letters, no numbers and no talking.
- The drawer's team shouts guesses. A correct guess before the sound wins the round.
- Press Generate for the next word, and pass the pen to the next team.
Tips for the person drawing
Start with the biggest shape, not the details: a body before a face, a box before the wheels. Guessers usually get the word from the outline.
Use simple signs most groups accept, like an arrow to point at the important part, or a line under a part to say "this one". For long sayings, draw one word at a time and hold up fingers for the word you are on, if your group allows it.
Playing on a video call or with a big group
On a video call, the drawer can use any shared whiteboard or simply hold paper up to the camera. Press Share to send the drawer a link with their word, or send it in a private message, so the guessers do not see it on the shared screen.
For a class or a party, set How many to 10 and press Copy all or Download .txt to plan the whole game. Press Print to cut the list into slips for a hat.
Make your own house rules
Change the game to fit your group. Some ideas: give a bonus point for guessing in under 30 seconds, let the other team steal a word when time runs out, or play a round with only Actions & sayings.
